BPA.org is proud to present new features for
customizing the site for
your state and/or chapter. State Advisors and Advisors can log into the
admin section of our Web site at http://www.bpa.org/admin and create
custom pages and news for their chapters that integrate right into
national BPA's Web site. National and State
BPA can then recruit local
news and "promote" it so that your local activities that YOU post can be
seen by everyone in BPA.
The system is
ready for use! Go to bpa.org/admin and try it out. Instructions are
below in a set of video tutorials (or use the simple instructions listed
below the videos).
State Advisors can create "State
Advisor Helpers" to edit the state site by creating a State Advisor
Helper in the Membership Registration System. Local Advisors can appoint
a member to be able to log in and edit the chapter pages by checking
the "chapter webmaster" box when adding the student in the membership
registration system.
Log in with your usual name
and password. (Appointed
student webmasters should use their Member ID and torch
password.)
The state or chapter you can
edit appears on screen. (Click “Edit Your Sites” on the left if nothing
shows up.)
Advisors
logging in for the first time
will need to create their chapter’s site.
On the
“edit site” page, click your state/chapter to expand a list of parts to
edit
Or use the four links on the left (edit pages,
create page, edit news, create
news).
Create Your Chapter's
Site
Click the “create a site for ##-####”
link.
Site ID: Choose one that is short, easy to
remember, easy to type into a web browser, and references your chapter.
Examples: “columbus”, “columbushs”, etc.
Site ID and
Chapter Name cannot be changed later. Double-check your
spelling!
Visiting Your Custom
Site
Go to http://www.bpa.org/siteid (ex:
bpa.org/newmexico, bpa.org/columbushs,
etc)
OR access your page from the top
sidebar of any page on BPA.org (the navigation
sidebar).
The chosen chapter/state is now saved as
the default chapter/state for every time you visit BPA.org from that
computer and web browser.
How your customized site
is different from the generic BPA.org:
The
navigation sidebar on each page links to your custom pages for your
state and chapter.
The “News” section on the front
page now includes news for your state and
chapter.
Editing Your Custom
Site:
For pages, click “Edit Pages” or
“Create Page" on the left. For News Items, click "Edit News" or "Create
News Item."
Fill in each field on the web
form that appears
For pages, Page ID
becomes part of the page’s URL (Example:
http://www.bpa.org/c/columbushs/officers)
Click the
save button to publish the page or news
item.
For pages, if you checked “menu
item,” the page will appear in the navigation sidebar of each
page.
If you clicked "hidden," the page or news item
will not be viewable to the public. (You can use this to save your work
before you
finish.)
