          Journey as an Officer

          Contributed by National Officers

          by Logan Williams
          National Post-secondary Parliamentarian

Hello there. I want to share a story with you. My story which will one day be history (His-Story=History).

Thinking back all of this started over two years ago when I started back to school to expand my education and mind. My local advisor encouraged me to run for office in my local Business Professionals of America chapter. And no sooner than I had taken the office of local president did she say “Hey!!! You should run for state office”. I thought ok that would be fun and an experience so sure I’ll do that. Little did I know what I was getting myself into, nor how much it would change and affect my life. Because of that experience I made friends with some of the best people any one could ever hope to meet. From the officer team to the state advisor and state officer coordinator and the director of the state department of career tech. Every one of them has had an impact on my life.

My advisor was not yet done with me. As soon as I started on my state officership she started looking at national officer for me. So began my Journey.

Chicago was amazing. I had the opportunity to meet so many fellow BPA members and see friends from the year before. The campaign experience was intense I have never greeted so many people and shook so many hands in one hour. Needless to say I will remember the whole experience for the rest of my days.

          An Officer

Now that I am settled into being an national officer I find that it is an entirely different experience from being a state officer. Most of my days are focused on BPA activities. Between school work, BPA, and managing two full time companies my time goes by fast. I can hardly believe I have been a national officer for a little over half of my one year term. Month to month I communicate with the rest of my officer team whom reside all across the nation, and with my buddy states, keeping them informed of activities going on within BPA. One of the aspects of being a national officer is to let them know I am here to help them any way I can. The national officer team and I are making plans for this coming NLC which is going to be amazing. I look forward to seeing all of you in Florida. Please check the blog for more stories and information from all members of the national officer team.
