It was a very exciting weekend at LHS for students from Business Professionals
of America.  Fifteen students qualified for the National Leadership Conference
            in Orlando, Florida!

Following an afternoon of judged competitions and
professional development workshops on Saturday, chapter members were welcomed to
the 2013 State Leadership Conference by State President Tim Schmidt of Taconic
High School. Held at the Sheraton Tara Framingham Resort, 16 chapters and about
450 students from across the Commonwealth set out Uncover their Magic at the
three-day event.  During the Opening Session, members were recognized for Torch
Awards and winners were announced for the Writing, Pin, Cover and Community
Service Awards.  LHS junior Mordecai Ebhohen received the Community Service
Award for his Vision Alive project; in addition, Mordecai also submitted entries
for the Pin and Cover Contests.  Junior Emily Wilcox submitted an entry for the
            Writing Contest.

Following the Opening Session, junior Carlos Gonzalez
participated in the fun event, Mr. & Ms. BPA.  He performed a singing
routine as part of his talent and dressed in traditional Puerto Rican attire for
            his entrance.

On Sunday, chapter members traveled to Assabet Valley
Regional High School for additional competitive events and workshops.  Our own
Simonka Urbanova presented two workshops on the National Entrepreneurship
Exploration project she is completing independently with the assistance of
DancEnergy owner Lisa Tenczar. Simonka will submit her project for award
consideration at the National Leadership Conference.  Additionally, LHS Chapter
members swept the competition at the Becoming Professionally Academic Seminar
offered by the BPA Post-Secondary President Lyndsay Robinson (Shawsheen Tech
graduate).  To their credit, members Carlos Gonzalez, Melissa Graham, Amanda
Rosa, Michael Doung, Sisowath Chea, Gracelyann Cordero, Cheymony Fennell,
Meisang Hong, Rita Bagala, and Emily Wilcox were recognized as BPA Merit
Scholars and invited to participate in the National Leadership Academy at
            NLC.

Finally, on Monday, the Award Ceremony was held in the Grand
Ballroom following the announcement of State Officers and a traditional Torch
