Newton High School BPA Has an End of the Year Social

          Contributed by Newton High School

On March 12, all BPA members from Newton High School gathered in Advisor Melinda Rangel's classroom to celebrate the ending of another successful year in Business Professionals of America. Chapter officers were asked to provide snacks for the gathering and a picture slideshow was put together for the members to view by chapter President Ashlynn Hamm. The pictures were gathered from all of the different activities that the organization had participated in throughout the previous year including the recent fashion show that was sponsored by CATO fashions. The fashion show's purpose was to teach students what is appropriate to wear in a business setting verses what is not appropriate and it was well attended by the student body. After the slideshow, freshman Logan Hamm had the members participate in a leadership activity. Hamm said "It was a good way for students to learn how to focus and it also helped me to earn more Torch Points. I am trying to receive my Ambassador Award for Nationals." Once the snacks were all gone Mrs. Rangel had the opportunity to tell her students goodbye. Rangel decided that this year would be her last as a BPA advisor at Newton High School and she felt it necessary to tell her students of the changes. "Saying goodbye is always hard and I will miss working with all of these great kids but I know that I have an amazing replacement. These members have worked very hard to be successful and I trust my leaders to continue making BPA a success at Newton High School," said Melinda Rangel. Although members may be experiencing a few changes next year, they all continue to share their excitement for their future competitions and activities.
