          Monthly Service

          9/8/2016
Contributed by Business Professionals of America

Charles Dickens once said, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” This quote spoke volumes to this year’s National Officer Team. As the team planned for the year ahead, it became evident that service, a core value of Business Professionals of America, would play a major role in the goals that they hoped to achieve. It was this thought that inspired your National Officer Team to establish monthly service themes to encourage members to further their service to their local communities.

Throughout the year, your National Officer Team will post a blog to reveal each month’s service theme. This blog will be posted prior to the beginning of the month. It will include several ideas of how your chapter can get involved during the month.

The goal of this program is to make it easier for chapters to participate in service related events throughout the year. As a result, active participation will provide members with more opportunities to complete activities to earn Torch Awards, and increase a chapter’s chance of qualifying for BPA Cares Awards. A new year offers new beginnings, and new opportunities for you to Spread Your Wings.

September’s monthly service theme is education. As members are preparing to go back to school, and back to BPA, the National Officer Team encourages you to support education. There are a number of ways to get involved in education related service. Below is a list of suggestions, but members are not limited to these activities.

          • Host a school supply drive in your local community
          • Read at your local elementary schools
          • Offer mentoring and tutoring services
          • Raise money to give as an academic scholarship

Be sure to take photos and share them on Twitter using “#BPAService”. The National Officer Team looks forward to a great year of service, and sincerely hopes that you will join in this endeavor.

          Sincerely,

          The 2016 – 2017 National Officer Team
