         National Leadership Conference Development Series

        BPA University is designed to enhance the leadership and life skill development of our members. Participants have the opportunity to engage in exciting Academies and development sessions sponsored and provided by partners including Adobe, Certiport, Kick It In, Next Step Academy, Journalism Education Association, Precision Exams and many more! BPA is committed to the development of our membership through professional sessions led by industry experts. Over 1,000 BPA members benefit annually from the course offerings available through the BPA University.

        This year, the BPA University is broken into tracks. The tracks are designed to follow areas defined in the BPA Workplace Skills Assessment Program.

        Adobe Academy: Iconic Session - Digital Photography Understood

We will look at workflows, HDR Images, and even editing a Camera Raw File on your phone! We will discuss Lightroom Mobile and the Camera Raw filter in Photoshop and how those tools are used. Simply put, Master photography is now available on your phone and you don’t need to be a wizard to deliver some magic.

        BPA Investment Challenge Top 10 Final Round Presentations

        Eligibility: Secondary Division Top 10 Finalists of the HowTheMarketWorks BPA Investment Challenge
        Registration: Finalists will be contacted directly by HowTheMarketWorks in advance of NLC and after the BPA Investment Challenge has concluded.

        Description: For the third year in a row, HowTheMarketWorks is proud to sponsor the BPA Investment Challenge open to all Secondary Division members. Through an online investment challenge simulation at: http://www.howthemarketworks.com/register/76966, participants were given $100,000 to invest across any US stocks, ETFs or mutual funds and competed to build up a Top 10 worthy Portfolio by March 17. 

        Following the closing bell on March 17, the Top 10 performers will be announced and invited to the 2017 National Leadership Conference where they will present their trading strategy in front of a panel of judges. The winning strategy will be awarded a check for $1,000! NLC registration fees for the Top 10 performers invited, and attending the conference, will be reimbursed by HowTheMarketWorks following NLC.

        Prizes will be based on total portfolio returns over the trading competition. A live ranking will be provided, however all results are dependent on a final audit by the HowTheMarketWorks team. The results of the audit are final.         Description: Test your accounting knowledge in the ultimate BPA tournament! Business Professionals of America Secondary students are invited to be a part of the third annual, national Bank On It Tournament. Once again, the AICPA’s Start Here, Go Places. has teamed up with BPA to host an in-person “Bank On It Tournament” of pretty epic proportions during the National Leadership Conference in Orlando.

        The tournament is open to the first 100 Secondary students who register. Did we mention that there will be an award for the Final Four competitors? Don’t miss out on the fun and competition of this year’s national BPA Bank On It Tournament. Not only is there a chance to gain bragging rights for being crowned the best of the best, but students will gain some great brain power from battling it out around the Bank On It game board.

        Description: Business Professionals of America is focused on helping members excel and grow personally and professionally and our partners at Next Step Academy share these goals. The catalog of online courses offered to BPA members provides an excellent solution for individuals seeking to succeed. To that end, we invite you to visit the Life-Skills Digital Certification Lab at NLC and earn/complete your Life-Skills Achievement Badge!

        The partnership between Business Professionals of America and Next Step Academy was established on the goal of bringing valuable online learning and life skills training courses to members in an efficient and accessible way.  The collaboration brought about the establishment of the Life Skills Achievement Program, which is designed to introduce members to important components identified by the U.S. Department of Labor and 21st Century Skills as necessary for success in the workplace.

        Members have the opportunity to complete at minimum, six (6) introductory life skills webinars from those listed below to earn their Digital Badge and expand their learning.

        Each course is:

        • Short (less than 30 minutes to complete)
        • Mobile (desktop/laptop, phone or tablet)
        • Full of information (expert advice, quality content, videos, and a quiz)

        Upon completion, learners will receive an electronic badge specifically designed for Business Professionals of America members to tout their accomplishment. This badge can be placed on resumes, shared on social media, sent to employers/potential employers, and more.
