Have You Got It? How entrepreneurial do you think you are? Do you like the idea of being your own boss? Do you have what it takes to be a success? Entrepreneurs come in all shapes and sizes. In fact, they come from every nation in the world. It’s almost impossible to describe what an entrepreneur looks like, because they are all different. Entrepreneurs can be young or old, male or female. Some are outgoing (Oprah!) and some are introverted (Bill Gates!), but the successful ones all have one thing in common — they love what they do! To find your place as an entrepreneur and to maximize your chances of success, it helps to begin by creating a list of things you like to do, have a talent for doing, and how these skills could be applied to fulfill a need in the market. It also helps to look at yourself to see if you have the positive attributes or characteristics that make entrepreneurs successful. The website of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) provides a comprehensive list of personality traits necessary for success as an entrepreneur. Follow this link and study their list: www.sba.gov/starting_business/startup/doyouhavewhatittakes.html Now let’s investigate your skills, talents, and attributes. Click the link below to download a form that you will use to assess your entrepreneurial abilities. If you are taking this course for a grade or for credit, you will turn in this assignment to your advisor or teacher. Download Worksheet 4: Entrepreneurial Discovery Form This is a fill-in PDF form.
