The Stock Market

The stock market is an enormous business with a huge number of “players” involved in every nook and cranny of the financial markets. The United States has some of the most sophisticated investors, brokers, investment bankers, and venture capitalists in the world. Consequently, the bad news is that this is a ruthlessly competitive arena for launching an IPO.

When you present your road show, you are going to be scrutinized by numerous seasoned (and often skeptical) professional investors who are going to be looking for the smallest gap in your business plan and presentation. They will have reams of statistics and data at their fingertips, and they’ll be checking to see if you really know your industry and are truly prepared to compete.

The purpose of this is not to scare you. Rather, it is to show you the stakes involved. These seasoned, skeptical investors will be sitting in your audience with enormous amounts of capital they can allocate to any IPO that catches their fancy. One of the crucial things that will help them make a favorable decision is your road show.

True or False?

The IPO road show is really not very important, since no one with any influence attends these presentations.
