Let Investors See your Passion for the Business! After you toss out your line and hook the investors’ attention, what next? Keep their attention by explaining things in tangible, concrete terms. Don’t just talk about theory or abstract values — give them the plain, simple facts. Make sure they understand the message and don’t “muddy the waters” with if’s, and’s, and but’s. Last, but not least, let the investors see your passion for the business. Bill Joos, a consultant who helps CEOs prepare road show speeches, says, “A good pitch changes the pulse rate.” His experience is that investors are looking for a CEO with “fire in the belly” and a “passion to succeed at something that’s never been done before.” Leave investors with a high-impact impression that if they don’t invest in your company, they will miss a tremendous opportunity. You can learn more ways to improve your speaking skills by observing well-known CEOs being interviewed on TV or on Internet webcasts. NASDAQ MarketSite broadcasts an ongoing series of interviews known as NASDAQ CEO Profiles or the CEO Signature Series. Click this link to access a list of available webcasts: www.vcall.com/IC/index.asp. New interviews and webcasts are added to this site continually, so check back often. |
True or False? Most investors like to see a CEO with “fire in the belly” and a passion to succeed at something that’s never been done before. |
