Customizing BPA.org For Your State or Chapter

Our goal at the Business Professionals of America National Headquarters is to make BPA.org more than just the national Web site. We want state and local information and news to be all over the site as well! For that to happen, local and state advisors need to get involved by interacting with the site and keeping it up to date.

This custom chapter system is not related to the Pre-submission system. Only chapters who have started their custom sites will appear on the list.

          Where is My Chapter?

Each local advisor must create their chapter's site using the instructions below.

          How to Get Started

          1. Log in at the top right of any page on BPA.org. Use your regular username and password for the Membership Registration System.
          2. Your state and chapter should be automatically selected once you log in. You can see it in the red menu bar just under the search bar. If your chapter's site hasn't been initiated, you won't see your chapter there, but you will see a link to create your chapter's site. Click that link or simply click here and follow the instructions therein. (All State sites have already been created.)
          3. Once your chapter's site is created, return to BPA.org. You can now use the "Pages" and "News" links in the top right corner while you're logged in to edit and add news and pages for your chapter. Pages and news have separate purposes:
            • Pages are for persistant information that will be relevant permanently or at least for the school year. For example: Local officers and information about your school
            • News articles are for timely information, for example an article about a fundraiser your chapter recently participated in, or how your chapter finished at a regional conference. To apply for BPA Cares awards, writing news articles are often required.

Students can also be assigned to create the site or to add/edit pages and news articles. To give a student this access, log into the Membership Registration System (MRS), view your members, and edit an individual student, checking the "Chapter Webmaster" checkbox. That student can now log in with their Member ID and password and do the same tasks as you.

Please feel free to contact Joel Stieg at 614-895-7277 x304 or jstieg@bpa.org for more information about this process or to have your questions answered.
