Bonding as a Chapter
Greetings BPA Members! Bonding with your local chapter is a great way to become more dedicated to BPA. By gaining the trust of your fellow members, you can feel more comfortable working with them. At your meetings, participate in team-building activities to get to know each other. One activity that always works with my chapter is “Two Truths and a Lie.”
In this game everyone sits in a circle and comes up with three statements—two truths and a lie. Every person takes a turn to share his or her statements. The overall object of the game is to figure out which statement is the lie. The rest of the group votes on the statements. After, the person reveals which is a lie.
This is just one example of many icebreakers that can help a group of people bond and work together more efficiently. Also, if resources are available, consider taking a trip to a nearby ropes course or camp. The more time spent with your local chapter will give you a greater experience in BPA.

Torch Awards Season!
The summer break is finally coming to an end which can only mean one thing. It’s Torch Awards season. The slates are wiped clean and members are now ready to begin the quest onto becoming a better member, student, and community member as they participate in activities to acquire points.
These points are in several different categories such as Knowledge, Cooperation, Leadership, and Service to name a few. These are all categories that will help members inspire into the ideals that Business Professionals of America uphold. Plus, you can get recognized on the local, regional, state, and national level with a nifty ceremony, certificate, and pin.
Plus with the newly vamped online Torch Awards system it is now easier than ever to work towards the final goal of reaching the Ambassador level of 70 points!
And don’t ever underestimate yourself because even new members can jump into the world of the Torch Awards program. You can rack up points from saying the BPA pledge to participating in a community service program. If you need help ask a local officer or your advisor. They can either assist you by offering you opportunities to gain those points or advise you in the right direction!
Don’t wait and get started now before the deadlines start appearing so you can get recognized for your hard work!
